Three Physicians from Commonwealth Atrius Cancer Center
Earn Top Doctor Distinctions

Weymouth, MA: Three physicians from the Commonwealth Atrius Cancer Center (CACC) in Weymouth— Claire Y. Fung, M.D.; Michael J. Anderson, M.D.; and James R. Everett, M.D.— recently received distinctions as top doctors in their field. Dr. Fung, Director of Radiation Oncology at CACC, was selected as one of the “Best Doctors in America” for Radiation Oncology. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Everett, medical oncologists at CACC, were selected as “Boston Area Top Doctors” in the category of Hematology/Oncology. CACC is a collaboration between Commonwealth Hematology-Oncology (CHO) and Atrius Health and is the area’s first comprehensive, freestanding cancer center with all non-surgical cancer services under one roof.

Dr. Fung’s citation, compiled by Boston-based Best Doctors, Inc. the Best Doctors in America, is derived from a peer-reviewed survey of more than 40,000 physicians in the United States. This survey asked which specialists they would choose for care of themselves or a loved one. Only those doctors recognized in the top 3%-5% of their specialty this honor.

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Everett were featured on Checkbook’s Top Doctors list, which is based on a survey conducted by Checkbook/The Center for the Study of Services.  The survey, sent to nearly 16,000 Boston-area physicians and more than 16,000 patients, asked which specialists they would consider most desirable for care of a loved one.

Dr. Fung, who received this honor for the second time, is board certified in Radiation Oncology. She holds staff appointments at Caritas Carney Hospital, South Shore Hospital, Quincy Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Fung received her M.D., cum laude, from Harvard Medical School, and her M.S. and a B.S., summa cum laude, in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University.

Dr. Anderson is board certified in Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Internal Medicine, and has an appointment at South Shore Hospital. He received his M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine and his B.A. from Yale University.

Dr. Everett is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, and has an appointment with South Shore Hospital. He received his M.D. from Tufts University Medical School and his B.A. from Dartmouth College.
