As another example of leadership in community-based cancer care, CHO is offering genetic testing and counseling to individuals at high risk for developing cancer. Residents who want to identify their risks—and optimize their chances for positive outcomes—now don’t have to travel to downtown medical centers for this service. Interested patients may confer with our physicians and nurse practitioners who have undergone extensive training on cancer genetics. After blood tests and counseling, patients may choose to take preventive medications, undergo aggressive screening procedures, or opt for surgery.
