Patients in local communities throughout the South Shore can participate in cutting-edge national clinical trials that previously necessitated inconvenient and sometimes impossible travel to downtown medical centers. CHO launched this program after being selected in 2007 as one of only six practices in the nation by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), which cited CHO’s comprehensive network and excellent reputation for quality and compassionate patient care. This collaboration with NCI will give patients access to more than 60 leading trials that may involve chemotherapy, targeted therapies, radiation treatments, hormones, or surgery for a wide variety of cancers. Under this arrangement with NCI, hundreds of patients can benefit from the best-available Phase II and Phase III trials.
